JANUARY

Donald Rosenblitt, M.D.
"Where Do You Want the Killing Done: An Exploration of Parental Hatred"
Wednesday, January 31, 2007
Meadows Museum of Art
7 to 9 p.m.

Dr. Rosenblitt will be commenting on a timely topic in light of a number of recent news items about the deaths of children at the hands of their parents. This presentation is offered to mental health professionals at a cost of $35 per person for non-Center members, under the auspices of the Dallas Foundation for Psychoanalysis.

Donald Rosenblitt, M.D. is a child and adult training and supervising analyst at UNC-Duke and clinical director of the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood. Last year he was awarded the Hands of Health Award for this early childhood program which brings psychoanalytic understandings to a diverse and underprivileged community. He is the author of many articles on early childhood development, therapeutic preschools and child therapy and has presented widely on these topics.

Dr. Rosenblitt will also present the following paper at Grand Rounds.

"Translating Psychoanalysis from the Playroom to Classroom"
Wednesday, January 31, 2007
Grand Rounds - noon
UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas
Grand Rounds Room - 8th floor, NC Building

Dr. Rosenblitt's paper will draw from his work at the Luch Daniels Center in Cary, North Carolina where he has served as clinical director since 1988. The Center has been a place where exploration and application of psychoanalytic principles has broadened our horizons in work with young children. Both the Center and its employees have been decorated with awards and accolades.

While he is in Dallas, Dr. Rosenblitt will also present a program free of charge to the public on the topic of ADHD. He will shed light on anxiety, depressive experiences, cognitive and developmental delays, and other factors that can underlie the symptoms that lead to a diagnosis of ADHD. Exploring and understanding these factors can assist parents, teachers, and mental health professionals in helping children gain mastery over their behavior. The program is offered under the auspices of the Foundation.
