DALLAS PSYCHOANALYTIC SOCIETY |
The
Dallas Psychoanalytic Society consists of a group of
mental health professionals (M.D.-Psychiatrists, Ph.D-Psychologists, and LMSW-ACP.--Social
Workers-Advanced Clinical Practitioners) who have graduated from psychoanalytic institutes
of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
These professionals all have had extensive
training in the mental health field prior to undertaking psychoanalytic training which
takes, on average, eight years to complete. The majority of the members spend a great deal
of their professional lives practicing psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically informed
psychotherapy.
PURPOSE: To provide a forum for the continuing education of
its members, an arena to deal with political issues of the day affecting psychoanalysis
and psychotherapy, and to promote the art and science of psychoanalysis, both to its
members and to the public at large.
In an effort to inform the public about
psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy, the Society gives
conferences, lectures, and talks open to any who may wish to attend. Members have availed
themselves to organizations to speak about aspects of our profession, or to address
themselves to various specific topics related to our field.
