DALLAS FOUNDATION FOR PSYCHOANALYSIS |
The Dallas
Foundation for Psychoanalysis,
(the "Foundation") is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established to
support the outreach, educational and scientific endeavors of the Dallas Psychoanalytic
Institute (the "Institute"). The Institute, a fully accredited training facility
of the American Psychoanalytic Association, is a regional center for psychoanalytic
education. The Foundation seeks to develop community support through raising public
awareness of the value of the psychoanalytic perspective. This perspective is essential to
the treatment of mental illness and family disturbances, to raising and educating
children, and to addressing societys infirmities.
Psychoanalysis Today Often referred to as
"the silent profession" because of the essential role of confidentiality in
psychoanalytic treatment, psychoanalytic education has had a presence in North Texas for
15 years. Psychoanalysis is the evolving product of years of clinical experience,
developmental and family research, continual theoretical revision, and input from
biological and social sciences. While continuing to respect the central importance of the
unconscious mind and early childhood experiences, contemporary psychoanalysis is open
minded and appreciates the roles played by neurobiology, gender differences, formative
relationships, learning differences, family functioning, society, culture and religion.
The psychoanalytic perspective has a profound influence on individual, family and group
therapy.
