Admission
Criteria
In addition
to the aforementioned characteristics, good character, stability, and
maturity are qualities necessary for becoming a successful
analyst. Applicants generally have had a long-standing interest in
psychoanalysis and experience doing psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
All Candidates are required to sign a statement and agree to abide by
the ethical principles, standards and procedures of the Dallas
Psychoanalytic Institute and the American Psychoanalytic Association.
Categories
(1) Physicians
and mental health professionals who have received a doctoral level degree
from an accredited medical school or mental health clinical program who
(a) are licensed in the jurisdiction in which they practice, or (b)
practice in jurisdiction in which their practices are not regulated by
licensure.
(2)
Mental Health professionals who have graduated from accredited mental
health degree programs with clinical masters degrees generally recognized
as the highest clinical degrees within specific mental health professions
and who have at least two (2) additional, post degree years of didactic
and clinical training that satisfy the standards and principles
established by the Board on Professional Standards, providing those
professionals are )a) licensed in the jurisdiction in which they practice,
or( b) practice in a jurisdiction in which their practices are not
regulated by licensure.
Full
participation in the curriculum is available to any qualified applicant
regardless of sex, race, creed, sexual orientation, or ethnic background.
We begin a new
class approximately every three years. The formal course curriculum
is five years. Elective classes and study groups are available to
advanced candidates who are waiting to meet the other criteria for
graduation.

After review
of the application and if appearing suitable for the program, the
applicant is interviewed by members of the faculty. Notification of
the final decision of the Institute will be made by letter. Since it
is expected that the candidate will have had some personal training
analysis prior to the beginning of course work, candidates are encouraged
to apply early enough to begin their analysis one year before beginning
class.
The
application fee is $150.00. The tuition is $2,400 per year.
The tuition for Advanced Candidates is $500 for each year following the
completion of the course work until graduation.
